Torrents work using pere to pere. You have to download a torrent program, theres a tun out there. Then you have to find torrents. Once you find a torrent you want you get the file directly from the person's computer that has it. If they go offline it reverts to someone else who has the torrent. Sounds confusing but I hope I clarified it some. The only problem is that they are a good sorce for spiwhere and stuff so use them at your own risk. I'm quite sure you can get viruses from them too.

I use a program called Torrent Harvester to search for torrents. It searches a lot of the torrent sites all at one time. For the actual downloading of the torrents, I use a program called BitComet.

I use utorrent for a torrent downloader, but if you get that, be sure to get the full version, and not the stand-alone version. You can go to www.utorrent.com to get the program. Also www.btjunkie.com is a good site to search for torrents, or www.btmon.com is another good one as well, hope that's helpfull!

Hi.

I've come to dispell a few things that people have been saying about torrents on this topic.
Post 2's explination was good enough, I use utorrent for my torrents, which as was said can be obtained from www.utorrent.com.
However, unless your really stupid, you'll never get anything nasty from torrents - maybe the odd fake, but even this can be avoided 99% of the time.
The site that I use most often for downloading stuff is http://www.thepiratebay.org - this has a tv shows section.
Some things to bare in mind when your downloading:
1: You'll want to get something that has quite a few seeders (people who have the file and are sharing it in simple terms) - unless you really want something, never get anything with under say 15.
2: Always look at the filesizes for what your getting; this helps avoid getting anything nasty; for example, a tv show isn't going to be 2mb in size or something stupid like that.
3: Before you download the torrent, check the comments for the torrents to see if anyone has posted back about the quolity of the torrent.
Whilst this can be helpfull, its worth remembering that on some more popula torrents, often people will post to say that it is a fake when really it is not. Use your own dudgement here - go with what most people say.
4: If you open something and it asks for a password, don't follow the instructions to get the password, just deleet it, post that its fake in the comments and move on.

Thats kinda breef but it should be enough to get you up and running - pm if you need help.
But yeah, i dunno where everyones getting all the virus stuff from, torrents are probably the cleanist form of file sharing that is around disregarding some more private ways of getting things.

Hth.
